Shore Fishing on Lake Simcoe
Question and Answer

Answer:
Hi Moe,
Unfortunately Lake Simcoe is not a prime lake for shore fishing. With it’s very make up of slow tapering shorelines throughout a vast portion of this 725 square kilometre waterbody, the lake is much more ideally suited for those who have a boat. Having said this, some opportunities exist. Spring and then fall are especially prime as fishlike perch often come near shore at these times. Evenings and early morning, are also better as fish can come in to feed. The rivers that feed the lake – like the Holland, Pefferlaw and Beaver are also places where fish reside.
A couple of top picks for shoreline fishing from a pier (what few of them remain on the lake) include the one in Willow Beach, another near Virginia just east of the Ferry dock, the pier at the mouth of the Beaver River in Beaverton and the pier on the other side of the lake in Belle Ewart. Fishing from the break wall in downtown Barrie can be quite good – especially later this fall when the perch and some smallmouth bass begin to show up. For exact locations – you may be able to find more on the Town of Georgina, Innisfil and City of Beaverton and Barrie Websites.
Hope this helps Moe and good luck fishing from shore.
Wil
