Question and Answer

Question:

Hey Wil, I am looking to go out with my dad this year and try for crappies. I live up in Cumberland Beach by Orillia and would like a lake within an hour that is good for crappie that is not a huge walk. Could you please help direct me.

Answer:

Hi Lee,

If you can find an access point- then there are some nice crappie in Kashe Lake just south of Gravenhurst.  We used to do well there in the 35 foot area. MacLean Lake near Gloucester Pool can also produce- you can access from the boat launch there and walk out.  Real close to you Lee, there is Bass Lake, which not many people fish- but rest assured it has some nice black crappie in it.  I’ve tried a few times and all I can get is perch - but have caught some slabs open water.  You can access from the beach area on the east side.

Hope this helps ... and you get on some nice crappie this winter.

Wil
