On Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wil Wegman will be hosting another one of his popular ice fishing seminars in Innisfil Ontario. Located minutes from Lake Simcoe- Ontario’s most popular ice fishing destination, this will be the first time the Town Innisfil will host one of Wil’s seminars. “I’m really looking forward to presenting in Innisfil ... and goodness knows I have spent many days over the last 25 years fishing the hard waters out from her shores.”

About the host:

Wil Wegman is an avid ice angler and award winning outdoor writer from Bradford Ontario. He won the 2006 Perch Trap Attack on Simcoe and was also a member of Team Canada at the World Ice Fishing Championships in 1991. He has had several top-ten finishes in the Canadian Ice Fishing Championships. He is the only recipient who has twice won the prestigious “Bill Bond Memorial Award”, presented annually to the individual who demonstrates commitment to conserving and promoting the fishery of Lake Simcoe.

He won the Perchin for MS event with his son Izaak in 2011 and placed 3rd in 2012 in a field of 200 teams.

His ice fishing articles have been published in Ontario Out of Doors, Outdoor Canada, Real Fishing, In Fisherman, Lake Simcoe Living and Just Fishing magazines.

He taught ice fishing courses at Georgian and Seneca College for 20 years and regularly presents his popular ice fishing seminars from one end of the province to the other. He can be reached thru his Focus on Fishing Website at www.wilwegman.com

His power point presentation in Innisfil will begin with Ice Safety Fundamentals and then focus on ice fishing Lake Simcoe. Particular emphasis will be placed on how to catch more yellow perch, northern pike, whitefish and lake trout this winter. “Lake Simcoe is a huge body of water and has changed dramatically over the last several years.  We will see how and why the lake has changed and examine how fish have adapted to those changes. In turn we’ll look at ways anglers can adapt their techniques to maintain successful outings while on the ice,” he said.

With that knowledge and the tips and tricks Wegman will reveal on how to catch those fish … ice anglers of all skill levels are sure to find the evening both entertaining and rewarding.  Draw Prizes will be offered following the presentation.

Sponsors of this event include: HT Enterprises, Rapala, Lowrance, Town of Innisfil and Lake Simcoe Living Magazine.

Cost of admission is free – however all those in attendance are asked to bring some non perishable food items for the local Innisfil Food Bank.
