Happy Town Set To Premier On ABC

In this ABC drama set to premier at 10pm on April 28,2010, residents of a small town set in Minnesota are all on edge by their first murder in seven years. The murder scene occurred in an ice fishing hut on a local lake. However that scene and many others did not occur in the US at all but on the frozen waters of Georgian Bay near Penetang, Ontario Canada. For several days in March 2009, cast and crew for Happy Town productions filmed various scenes there and Bradford’s own Wil Wegman was hired on as their ice safety consultant.

“Before filming, I was responsible for testing ice safety conditions at a few other possible locations until we finally landed on the one in  Penetang at Discovery Harbour”, said Wegman.  Here ice was monitored regularly for a week prior to filming and Wegman marked some areas as ‘off limits’ to cast and crew and facilitated the construction of an ice ramp to control and maintain safe access to the ice each day during filming. “Being there during the on-ice shoots day and night was an interesting and rewarding experience and I look forward to seeing how those scenes turned out”, he concluded.

Happy Town is not Wegman’s first stint as an ice safety consultant ... prior to that he made sure everyone stayed safe ‘on top of the ice’ for the feature length movie “Four Brothers” starring Mark Walberg and has since also been the ice safety consultant for the production of the movie Red – which will star Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman.

Happy Town the series stars Steven Weber (Wings, Brothers & Sisters), Geoff Stults (7th Heaven) Ben Schnetzer  (son of Cass Winthrop) , Another World's Stephen Schnetzer) and Lauren German.
