Outdoor Writers Of Canada Convention combined with some fishing

In June 2007 I attended Outdoor Writers of Canada’s annual convention in North Bay.  Based on the shores of one of my favorite bass lakes ... Nipissing I thought it might be a frustrating exercise to not be able to bass fish while there (season still closed) but boy was I ever wrong!  In fact I did get to fish bass – but not the famed smallmouth the lake is known for, nor the growing population of big largies ... but for the much more obscure white bass which were in season and more than willing to cooperate.  In a Triple Crown type of fishing destinations article that you can find here  you can read all about my fishing and camping trip to North Bay. It also includes a pieces on our annual All Boyz Canoe trip to Algonquin Park and the opening of the 2007 bass season in Orillia when we weighed in 21.92 pounds for our five heaviest bass.
